ADN Programs Baltimore, MD

If you want to make an impact on others’ lives through hands-on care, nursing may be the profession for you. The Associate of Science Degree in Nursing provides speedy preparation for the National Council Licensing Exam. In just two years, you can complete the foundational preparation that will qualify you to take the exam and provide competent, professional, safe, and evidence-based practice in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, long-term care, and other medical settings. As a registered nurse, your role will not be limited to patient care but will encompass patient advocacy, planner, educator, friend, supporter, coach, and comforter. You’ll record medical histories, monitor and record symptoms, operate medical equipment, administer medications, advocate for patients’ well-being, collaborate with health care professionals to improve outcomes, coordinate care, and develop and assess patient care plans.

The Maryland Board of Nursing will determine your eligibility for licensure. The Board may deny licensure to anyone who have been convicted or plead guilty or nolo contendere to a felony or crime. Licensure also depends on passing the NCLEX for Registered Nurses. As a Registered Nurse, you can pursue advanced degrees in nursing to expand your range of duties or assume advanced practice positions such as nurse practitioner or clinical nurse specialist.

Baltimore City Community College

The Associate of Science Degree in Nursing program at Baltimore City Community College prepares students to take the NCLEX licensure exam to become a Registered Nurse. Courses in humanities and biopsychosocial sciences will prepare students to address the whole person with care and compassion and use scientific rationales in practice. Students will learn how to solve problems in the nursing process and care for the health of the individual, the family, and the community. Licensed practical nurses may continue their education to the RN degree by applying for the LPN to Associate Degree in Nursing option which will remove the need to repeat some courses. Applicants to the bridge program must hold an active, unencumbered Maryland license, pass the RN Fundamentals of Nursing Challenge exam, and obtain a minimum score of 90% on the Nursing Program Dosage and Calculation of Medication exam.
