The Associate Degree Nursing program prepares adults to function as entry-level practitioners in just two to three years. Graduates are knowledgeable, competent, and accountable members of the health care team. Midlands Technical College

The Associate Degree Nursing program at Midlands Technical College combines biological and social sciences to equip students with the knowledge and skills to practice in the role of a registered nurse. The curriculum builds on the basic knowledge of the practical nurse but enables students to function with greater independence in the RN role. Students who complete the requirements with a minimum grade C will be eligible to take the NCLEX for Registered Nurses. Candidates with a criminal record may have to appear before the Board of Nursing to have eligibility determined. Instruction will take place in the classroom and on-campus labs. The pre-clinical experiences in the modern simulation labs will prepare students for the mandatory clinical experiences at local healthcare facilities. Licensed practical nurses can apply for advanced placement in the program through the Transition Nursing Program. Applicants to this track must have a active unrestricted S.C Practical Nursing license or a license from a compact state, have graduated from an accredited program, and must qualify for admission based on the requirements at the time of application. Admission to the transition program is available in the Fall and Spring semesters only.

York Technical College

The Associate Degree Nursing Program at York Technical College prepares adults to function in the role of a registered nurse where they will provide direct care to patients across the life span. The program includes theory and hands on practice in a simulated lab on campus. Students will also participate in a mandatory clinical experience where they will put their knowledge and skills into practice. Licensed practical nurses can apply for Transition Advance Placement and be awarded a minimum of 23 semester hours of nursing credits after evaluation of transcripts. Candidates must have a current and active LPN license, meet the requirements for admission to York Technical College, meet the requirements for admission to the nursing program, pass the TEAS test, and obtain a score of 74 or better on the ATI PN Predictor test. Graduates of the program will be eligible to take the NCLEX to become a Registered Nurse.

The FDTC Associate Degree Nursing Program prepares students for the practice of nursing based on biological, behavioral and humanistic principles. Graduates will be prepared to take the NCLEX for Registered Nursing practice in hospitals, outpatient centers, clinics, and other health care facilities. The Associate Degree in Nursing program integrates theory and practical instruction that covers all aspects of the nursing profession.
