ADN Programs Oklahoma City, OK

Nursing is one of the few careers that offer numerous personal and professional rewards. Nurses manage care and support the restoration of health. More than that, they make life-changing decisions regarding the care and treatment of patients. As such, it is essential that nurses develop and employ good critical thinking and clinical judgment. Other essential skills include therapeutic communication, organizational and observational skills, and compassion.

The Associate Degree in Nursing prepares prospective nurses for licensure and entry-level practice as a registered nurse. Enrollment in the ADN program remains high despite the calls for more BSN nurses. This pre-licensure pathway to registered nursing is faster and more affordable than the Bachelor of Science in Nursing.  The ADN sets the foundation and prepares for licensure but your education should not stop there. Continuing to the BSN will offer advanced nursing opportunities, better pay, a broader skillset, better patient outcomes, and a jumpstart on the future when the BSN becomes the only requirement for nursing practice. Fortunately, it is easier than ever to complete the requirements through RN-to-BSN programs. Most programs are delivered online and can take as little as 15 months to complete.

With the incessant demand for professional and competent nurses in the healthcare industry, you can be assured of employment after completing the nursing program. The growing baby boomer population who are living longer and the rise in chronic cases are just some factors that drive demand for more health care providers.

Oklahoma City Community College

Oklahoma City Community College offers two nursing pathways for adults to prepare for licensure and employment as a registered nurse. Graduates of both pathways will be eligible to take the NCLEX for Registered Nurses and may apply the credits earned to a bachelor’s degree at a four-year college.
