BSN Programs Dallas, TX

Nurses work collaboratively with other health professionals to deliver efficient and safe care in almost every sector of the medical industry. They form the core of the healthcare system, providing extraordinary care in times of calm or crisis. They are the heroes on the frontline of care, doing a life-saving work and providing invaluable support to ensure patient comfort and recovery.

Although thousands of nurses have been added to the workforce in response to the repeated calls for more nurses, demand is still greater than supply. According to the National Center for Health Workforce Analysis, Texas will have the second-largest shortage in the country. By the year 2030, the state will have a shortfall of nearly 16,000 registered nurses. A rise in patients with more complex conditions and the increasing number of nurses reaching retirement age contribute to the existing shortage. The expected surge in the elderly population to 1 billion by 2030, according to the US Census Bureau, will place a further burden on the health care system, and there will be a drive to recruit more nurses to care for them.

The lack of available faculty, funding and clinical slots limit the number of students accepted into nursing programs. Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs in Texas use strict guidelines for selecting candidates for admission. Some programs expect candidates to complete prerequisite coursework and have no prior convictions as well as other specific requirements for admission. Graduates of the BSN program will be eligible to apply to the Texas Board of Nursing to take the National Council Licensure Exam to practice as Registered Nurses.
