ADN Programs Atlanta, GA

Nurses are a critical part of patient care. The profession is as old as time but never have nurses’ role been as crucial, complex, and rewarding as it is today. The Associate of Science in Nursing degree prepares students with the skills to become primary caregivers to individuals, families, and communities. Registered nurses must have an expansive skillset that includes experiential knowledge, technical, and critical thinking abilities to assess, plan, and implement care plans to promote health, prevent disease, ensure patient safety, and restore health. Nurses are typically the only health care providers that can help patients cope with illness and employ constant monitoring to detect adverse reactions to treatment. In communities, nurses can take the role of patient advocates and health educators to lower hospital admission rates. Graduates of the ADN program are eligible to apply to the Georgia Board of Nursing to take the NCLEX for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state.

Upon licensure by the Board, nurses will have the authority to practice in hospitals, doctors’ offices, community centers, schools, rehabilitation facilities, hospice centers, home health care, and clinics. The role and responsibility will depend on the play of work. In general, nurses are confined to one facility although they may have the option to move the different units – for those employed in hospitals. Traveling nurses move from place to place and may work in different health care settings, such as home health, adult day care, and schools. In any setting, nurses must have the physical and mental capacity to stand for long hours at a time and endure the demands of working in a fast-paced medical environment. Nurses who plan to pursue supervisory positions or have a greater role in patient care must have a bachelor’s degree at minimum. A Master of Science in Nursing is essential for advanced practice.

Increasing health care needs raises the demand for registered nurses across the United States. The demand is expected to grow, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The BLS projects a growth rate of 15% from 2016 to 2026, which is faster than the average for all occupations. To
